Shakesphere in Ten ACts - British Library
This exhibition is at the entrance of the British Library. Most of them are handwritten manuiscript that is I think almost impossible to read. The ones that interests me is 12 books in a display case with Shakesphere translated different parts of the world, for example, Japan and India. I found it most intriguing to see that I wouldn't know that those are translations from Shakesphear plays, because some look like children books, others look like just a fictional novel.
I also loved the illustrations of a old book of the Tempest, I personally haven't read the Tempest yet, but I wanted to read now as the illustration has flying monsters on top of a ship. Next to the international array of books, there is also a puppet show video which I found most entertaining. And also explaining a little history back then, in Germany, because the lack of a stage, they usually performed Shakesphere in a smaller scale, which is like this puppet show.
The video shown with Stephen Fry and two man acting as two woman in Shakephere Globe was quite funny, and I admire the beautiful costumes behind.
But my favourite is definitely the video shown below of The Enchanted Island performed in the Metropolitian Opera, New York 2011. I was mesmerized by the projection of tiles folding out in the underwater and the mermaids hanging down. Then all those faces hiding behind the cut cardboard, such an ingenious and comical intepretation. Then the diver shown up wearing the 19th century diving suit.
