Billy Graham _ TED Talk _1998
Problems that technology solve. how do we solve, human evil. where did it come from, how do we solve it. He question despite technology we can't change the humans evil. The bible said we need to restore our soul. The soul is the part that yearns for the question in life, why am I here. He claims that everyone inside knew there is something out there, and there's a captain. Another problem is to solve poverty and people's suffering and death.
Technology projects the myth of control over our mortality. We see people on our screens. Marilyn Monroe is just as beautiful on the screen as she was in person, and our -- many young people think she's still alive. . They don't know that she's dead.
Wernher von Braun, in the aftermath of World War II concluded, quote: "science and religion are not antagonists. On the contrary, they're sisters." He put it on a personal basis.... And he said, "Speaking for myself, I can only say that the grandeur of the cosmos serves only to confirm a belief in the certainty of a creator." He also said, "In our search to know God, I've come to believe that the life of Jesus Christ should be the focus of our efforts and inspiration. The reality of this life and His resurrection is the hope of mankind."
Not entirely sure if I agree with this religious man, but other than him preaching to turn your faith to Jesus Christ than technology, there might be one or two things that hit upon is worth noting. I agree that technology hasn't exactly solve the suffering and poverty yet. Technology do projects a control over our mortality, and I don't agree it is a myth, it is really happening, you can extend your life existence with the advanced technology, not now, but probably in 10-20 years time. At least people who have a heart failure, like my neighbour, has a mechanical heart. Or he can unplug, and go peacefully. People who lost both legs have robotic legs and jump really fast, and become a superhuman. At least much more efficient than a normal human running. So who knows, maybe it will happen, if Kuzweil predication is accurate, humans will have their bodies so manipulated that all is possible to at least extend our mortality. The question is if you want to continue living longer than you should, I certainly don't.
